Can anyone recommend a user based shopping cart?

I'd like to setup a webstore/portal script for local bands to sell their merchandise on. Can anyone recommend a solution? I'd prefer it to be LAMP based if possible.

From what I've seen, OSCommerce seems to be the typical open-source one. Miva Merchant is one of the more popular commercial offerings.

Response by poster: I was hoping for something a little less unwieldy... sort of like a web based mall or something...

I just had good luck setting up OSCommerce. From never having seen it before to having the store setup, took about a day and a half (and that was while working on other things at the same time).

I'm not sure what you mean by "web-based mall" -- I figured from the LAMP part that you wanted to find software to install locally. If you're not comfortable setting things up (and I can't blame you, since it's your customers' problem if something fails) you might be better off with something hosted. I see the Y! favicon of Yahoo! Stores all over the place lately.
