International women's soccer tournament in China?

International women's soccer tournament in Haikou, Hainan, China, in December 2011 -- is it for real? Can Mefites find any more information about it? (Organizing body? Contact info? More precise data on how it's organized, dates, participants, venues? Etc.)

An article on the Hainan province government website contains the following sentence: "The 1st International Women's Football Club Team Competition will kick off in Haikou on December 12 and 16 teams from Sweden, the United States,Norway, France, Germany, Canada, Brazil, Japan and South Korea will participate in the competition."

I ask on behalf of my friend and myself, who are two Americans, women's soccer fans, who happen to have been living in Haikou for the last two years, and who would love to do more than just attend at this event, assuming it's for real. (Google is coming up completely empty for me on details.) We figure the tournament organizers might need interpreters, foreigners, people who know about the local area & conditions, or at the very least volunteers. We are both soccer players, and know the local soccer facilities, &c.; we are multilingual, fluent in 3-4 languages each, and given all this we figure we could be of real assistance to them -- and given that we're fans, we'd love to have the chance.

So can anyone find anything more about this tournament than that one sentence on that one website?

Forgive me if this sounds sort of presumptuous, but could you ask around locally? I know it is difficult to get info in China, living there myself, but someone local must know something about this, if it's actually happening. I'd also check local newspapers and TV.

An international tournament is most likely being organized, or at least sanctioned, by the Chinese Football Association. Perhaps search around their website. There's also some contact details in English on their FIFA page.
