Recommend a used-car lot drivable from Boston.

My teenager wants to buy her first used car this weekend for less than $10,000. Can you recommend a car lot within an hour's drive of Boston?

We are looking for a reliable sedan. As a jumping-off point, we have a list from Consumer Reports of about 20 different models recommended for teenage drivers. We would love to get a Toyota or Honda, but we're flexible. Financing is not an issue, but $10,000 is our limit.

From Boston, I am willing to drive north as far as New Hampshire (to the border), west as far as Worcester, and south as far as Rhode Island. If you had a good experience with a used-car lot in this area—impressive selection, fair salesmen, etc.—I would love to hear about it.

Thanks in advance!

You might want to consider the CarMax outside of Hartford... more like 2 hours, but some people really like them, and it fits your interest in multiple brands...

European Motorsport is south Lawrence just off 495. Michael is very fair and treats his customers very well, both male and female and is very pleasant to deal with. No interest in the business just a a happy customer. There is also two cats in the office that were born in the front seat of a Lamborghini..

In terms of fairness, CarMax has a 5-day, no questions asked return policy, as well as a pretty good warranty.

Response by poster: Hartford is definitely outside our radius. To clarify what I meant by "to the border": Tyngsboro would be fine, but Nashua, NH is too far. Bellingham would be fine, but Woonsocket, RI is too far. Et cetera. Thanks!

Chritsmas Motors in Maynard have an excellent reputation in the area towns for good used cars and mechanical work. christmasmotors.com.
