I I I I I Have Some Stepping Stones

Give me ideas on how to re-purpose leftover stepping stones.

I have some various round concrete stepping stones that I don't know what to do with. There are nine 2' diameter stones and six 1' diameter stones.

What should I do with them? Keep them stacked and put a bird feeder/bath on top? Some kind of yard sculpture? Roll them down the street and see how much carnage ensues? Any ideas are welcome, please!

The first thing I thought when I opened your picture was that your stepping stones are begging to be painted like citrus. I don't know what you'd do with them after that, but at least they'd be pretty.

You could also donate them (unpainted) to a local preschool (or kindergarten or elementary school). They can let the kids in the class paint them, and then use them as stepping stones on their own playground.

I know in my area, they are a hot item that are snapped up with enthusiasm when offered free to others on places like Freecycle & Craig's list. (I know this because I have yet to win the lottery when it comes to writing back & seeing if they're still available!)

Mine were square, but I turned them to stand on edge and buried them halfway down, in a row to create a border for my vegetable garden. I think circles would work to create a scalloped looking border.

I've been wanting more (cheap) so I've been watching Craigslist but haven't found any. So you should just put them on Craigslist or freecycle and let someone have them.

You could mosaic the tops of them for garden art.
A couple of mine split in half and i used them as a border like cathyg, it worked out ok. Yours look larger than mine though.

I was going to say not-to-scale model of the solar system on that beautiful lawn - but I guess you'd have to add moons.

Use the large ones as support for a bench if you have enough. Stack them in two even stacks and then lay some wood across the top - insta-bench! Then, stack the smaller ones in a column and get a round table top at one of the big box stores. That way you'll have an end table to go with your bench.

The could also be used in X-TREME DISCUS.
