I'm trying to set something up for a whole bunch of people with busy schedules. Is there a free web app, or open source hosted script, that allows a group of people to schedule something, and show where the conflicts are? (As in Outlook, but free, and collaborative)

I've never used it but it looks like what you need: Pointment.

"Pointment helps you schedule all of your meetings in one place, invite people to meetings, and lets people vote on meeting times to help you find the best meeting time for everyone."

Trying out pointment I realized that asking for conflict checking was nonsensical -- it requires everyone keep all their appointments on that system. Pointment uses a "voting" metaphor, which is great. Just what I need!

there's also upcoming.org, which may not have the feature set you want, but it is an interesting and useful site.
