m:robe 100 and OS X

Yes, I know that the m:robe 100 isn't *officially* Mac compatible, but it's so sweet looking (fine, fine: "pretty"), that I'm sure somebody has hacked it together to work for the finer 10% of computer users out there... Has anybody had any luck with using the m:robe 100 on a Mac running (specifically) OS X.4.1?

I dunno if this helps BUT... I know that any device that that has storage capability, like a digital camera or the iRiver, come up as a storage device and allow you to write to it and read to it. if you could just copy and paste you MP3s onto that device; I think it could work for you. I would go to some Computer Superstore and ask to demo the product in their Mac section. best of luck.

While I'm not positive, I think that Livewire may be mistaken when s/he says that any device with storage capacity can be mounted as a standard storage device. One of the advantages of iRiver players, as I understand it, is that they can mount as a standard removable storage device. My old Rio mp3 player, on the other hand, can only connect to a computer by using additional software.

The go-to-a-computer-superstore suggestion, however, seems like a good one. In the event that no computer superstores carry this particular player, perhaps you could buy one from a place with a very good return policy, or just wait around for some informed reviews.

It's possible that, in the event that every single other option fails, you might be able to use VirtualPC or another piece of PC emulation software. (note: I don't know whether this strategy would work.)
