WinXP: Browsing the home dir in a HDD pulled from a different PC

In WinXP, why is it that the file browser within Nero9 is able to view the home dir of a disk pulled from a different WinXP PC, but Windows Explorer isn't able to?

Please see annotated screenshots here: http://i.imgur.com/AL2k7.png

Question:
How can I view the contents of the home dir, (in a harddisk pulled from a different machine), using plain old Windows Explorer?

As the message indicates, You do not have the proper permissions to access that user folder.

If the windows installation on that drive is no longer being used, you can simply take ownership of the folder by following this guide: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421.

Right click on the inaccessible folder (laptop?) and click properties. Navigate to the security tab and click Advanced. Navigate to the Owner tab and select your account, check the checkbox to replace the owner on sub-containers and objects.

From here you should be able to add yourself to the Permissions tab with full control. (If you're on the Home Edition of XP, you'll have to restart in safe mode under the Administrator account to access the Security tab)
