Question: Online Appreciation?

I was wondering if there is a way for a group of people to give thanks online.

In light of this story, I wanted to know if there is a site that would allow a group of people to either sign a virtual card with their names or messages. It'd be great if it would also allow the coordination of sending some sort of token of appreciation in some cases.

If there is not such a site, do you think creating such a site would be a good idea? If so, what are your thoughts on the following (or anything else):

1) A good domain name
2) How to make it pay for itself (with extra going to some charity to be decided)
3) How can a group of people can show appreciation for a person/group of people in an online context

Considering the coverage this story has received, those guys probably have truckloads of thanks already. How about putting your energy into something else, like working on the problems at the root of the story? The previous threads will certainly provide lots of ideas, starting perhaps with these intriguing comments by digaman and Ethereal Bligh.

Sorry to rain on the me-too parade, but it really isn't constructive. Instead of give the meme further momentum in the direction it's currently headed, work to steer it towards real solutions. [covers head]

Yeah, I wasn't thinking of just this one case. Like was discussed, there are lots of times when people don't get the thanks they deserve. I see your point regarding this specific case, though.
