What are some songs that mention being 23?

I just listened closely to the Hold Steady's "Hurricane J", and the lyrics mention being 22 - but I just turned 23. What are some great songs that mention being 23?

Bonus points for indie rock. Negative points for "What's My Age Again?".

You shouldn't overlook this Red House Painters song just because it's one year out.

spontaneous combustion. Woe-is-me.

You're so old
You must be 23
You spent the year
In a drunken frenzy
Lied to your friends
Adopted false ideas
And Quit your job
Because it made you crazy.

23 by Blonde Redhead repeats the words twenty and three quite a few times... although I'm not sure that this one's specifically about being twenty three years of age.

Sea of Alcohol, by Boy? Fits the bill for indie, not *quite* about being 23, and I may have misunderstood the 24 to be years instead of hours... but the feel of the song seemed to fit being 23, going on 24.

slouching by the tv,
going on 24,
you wouldn't want to be me when I'm passed out on the floor,
Wondering where you are and where you were and who you are,
don't mind me, I've been down before.

I'm trying to sail away,
but I'm drowning in a sea of alcohol,
Trying to fake my way,
but I can see that ain't no way at all,
Trying to find your face,
but all your bloody faces look the same,
When will I see you there again?

Maintain Consciousness by Relient K:

...

because its
17, 18, 19 routine
and here at 23 it's the same old me
and that one thing of the moment
that we all happen to like will
only very temporarily
kinda break the cycle
of the double edged sword
of being lazy and being bored
we just want more and more and more
till it's all we can afford

You had your photograph, in a magazine
Such a pretty boy, only nineteen
But now your twenty-three and it's all gone now
you ain't all that you wanna be somehow

And, on a similar up-beat, for next year:

He had a stroke at the age of twenty-four
It could have been a brilliant career

Showing my high school d-bagginess, but "Dancing Nancies":

Twenty-three and so tired of life
Such a shame to throw it all away
The images grow darker still
Could I have been anyone other than me?

This is actually a quote from Simon and Garfunkel's "Leaves that are Green," so you might wanna check that out.

Old 97's Streets of Where I'm From

But it's past tense:

I recall, when I was twenty-three -
Wondering how anyone could fall in love with me.
But now I'm old, hell I'm well past twenty-five -
And I can't seem to fall in love no matter how I try.

Slow Club's When I Go:

If we're both not married by 22,
Could I be so bold and ask you?
If we're both not married by 23,
Will you make my year and ask me?
If we're both not married by 24,
Will you pass me those kneepads and I'll get on the floor?
If we're both not married by 25,
I hope there's some childish spark still alive.

Also, in a different vein, check out John Milton's poem starting "How soon hath Time."

In fact the 1967 live version of "Leaves that are Green" says "23 now" actually, so that might be an even better choice, depending on the OP's purposes.

Tristan Prettyman has an album called "Twenty Three." Not sure which tracks, but I know there's at least one on there with that being referred to as her age.

Sorta kinda related, I think there's a scene in the movie Singles where Bridget Fonda's charater is in the coffee shop talking about what it's like being 23. I can't seem to find it online, but the scene was all about how turning 23 is the first year that sounds old. Not really a song, but fits in the theme I guess.

"'65 Mustang," by Five for Fighting ("when I turn that horse's key/I'm 17 or 23/or bringing home my first baby/like Dad did when the '65 was 3")

"23," God Lives Underwater ("I've spent 23 years now/trying to get by")

"Vicious World," Rufus Wainwright ("Didn't realize you were so top of the shelf/Just you wait and see when you turn, turn 23")

"Dreaming," Scribe ("I'm 23 and I just want to be me/wanna be free")

"Skrying," Mudvayne ("Sticks break on me/cost of life at 23")
