How can I print a detailed map from Google Maps?

How can I print a fairly detailed, large map from Google Maps? I'm thinking of using Blockposter to make it 4x4 or 4x6 pages. Is there an easy way to go about this?

It's been awhile since I've done this so maybe things have changed. But I was able to create pretty good-sized maps using the pro version of google earth.

Did you mean a map of the Streets / City streets or of Google earth pics?

I have been reliably informed that part of Google's licensing agreement for the Map data is actually that they have to make it reasonably hard to do this. So there is no really simple way to do it. However I did find one kinda tricky way to take a huge screen shot much larger than your actual monitor.

here are some suggestions

I would look at using openstreetmap.org. You can export their maps in a large png and jpg format. If you need it even larger, export it as a vector pdf or svg, which you can then scale to any size.

Response by poster: Ultimately I gave up. You can zoom out and just take a normal screenshot with a high resolution, but just buying a map was the cheaper option.
