Question: Printer question

I have an HP Officejet 5510 all in one printer. The printer function always works without problem. It's the copier function that is really causing me problems.

When I try to make copies, almost always of black and white text documents, it is a crapshoot. Sometimes it will copy perfectly. Sometimes it will begin filling a page with black ink. Sometimes, it will give a washed-out copy of the text over a bed of grey ink. Sometimes it won't print at all. I will need to make many copies over the next few weeks, and would like to not have to spend money at Kinkos if I don't have to. Other factors: this happens whether I use the physical buttons on the front of the printer or the control panel software. Printing color copies ocassionally does this as well, but color copies are generally more reliable. Printing photos and text documents have posed no problems. Any suggestions?

Make sure youhave the newest driver. Delete the printer, and all it's software. Then reinstall it.

Is the difference associated with paper type? You may be able to put documents in a sleeve for copying that would reduce glare from glossy paper.
