Help me read this handwriting

Can anyone tell me what this says? It's a guy's last name.

A guy bumped into my car a month ago and caused a bit of damage. He agreed to send me a check and then never did. I have his name, city and license plate. But I can't read his last name very well. So, I can't contact him. I'm wondering if anyone here can help me read what this says.

Do his appearance/accent/first name hint at any particular ethnic/linguistic origin?

It says "you just got played". That just seems like a random string of letters - my best guess would be FOJERPATAKJ - and since the person didn't give you a phone number or any contact info other than city/license plate he probably wasn't intending to ever send you a check.

But in all seriousness, if you have his license plate number and city, contact that city's local police department and see if they can help, maybe?

Best answer: I'm seeing "Fejerpataky" - I'm pretty sure that's a legit Hungarian surname, though possibly a less common spelling.

That looks to me like what someone writes when they don't want you to know their name. It's notable that he didn't give you an address or phone number either.

He clearly doesn't want to pay up. A verbal contract isn't very helpful here. You should probably give his details to the cops and see what they can do. Not much, I guess.

Did the guy not have insurance?

Response by poster: He had an accent, but I couldn't tell where it was from. If I had to guess, I'd say maybe Eastern European?

It happened in a private parking lot and I'm told that the law is that isn't required to pay or give insurance information.

If someone hits your car, no matter where it is--private lot or not--call the cops and get a police report. Not to punish anyone, but just so stuff like this doesnt have to happen.

Do a Canada 411 search for Fejerpataky, isolated to Ontario. See what turns up.

In many cities the cops generally won't come to an accident in a private lot (ex.: the grocery store or mall) unless intentional recklessness or injury is involved. The way around this is to imply that it's more severe than it actually is, then demand a police report on the scene.
