Daisy-chaining a wireless router

I have a Linksys WCG200 cable modem/wireless router combo device. It sucks at wireless (and extensive Googling has indicated that's unfixable), but it's OK at everything else. Can I pick up a $30 wireless router, plug that into the device I have now, and use that without any loss of quality? Would I need any other devices? Would it just be easier to get a new stand-alone cable modem as well?

Buy any wireless router and put your cable modem in bridge mode, which disables all the router and wireless functionality. That's all you have to do.
