Where can I buy prickly pear syrup in Chicago
I need it for a recipe that I'm making either tonight or tomorrow. Where in Chicago would it be? I tried trader joes, whole foods, binnys, and fox and obel, no luck with any.
Anyone have any ideas?

I've seen frozen, jarred, and canned prickly pears in supermercados in Rogers Park. I've never looked for prickly pear syrup, though, but it seems reasonable that it would be available in the same stores. If you go looking for it in a supermercado, "tuna" is the word for prickly pear, so be on the lookout for that.
Good luck!

If you can't find it, it is real easy to make if you can find prickly pear.
Add the fruit to a cup or so of water. Simmer until the fruit colors the water. Add a cop of sugar, boil until the sugar dissolves, let cool.
I have made all kinds of flavored simple syrup, never prickly pear though. The cook times vary depending on what you are adding. But it wont be a disaster as long as you don't spill it.

Maybe Old World Market? Otherwise, yes, almost every grocery in Rogers Park will have fresh prickly pear fruit, or tuna, which you could turn into syrup yourself following munchingzombie's directions.

I think I've seen it at Hyde Park Produce but I'm not sure about it?
