Question: Creative MeFi - I need to make up the name of an Ice Cream flavor.

I work in advertising (media side) and have been asked to come up with a name of an ice cream to tie into a football team. As I understand it, this will be the 'Official Ice Cream of the TEAM NAME.'

I can tell you that there is no flavor yet so you can have free rein here. They will make the flavor to suit the promotion.

The team name can be shortened to one syllable

Here are some samples I've come up with:

TEAM NAME Chocolate Blitz
TEAM NAME Touchdown Supreme
TEAM NAME Touchdown Crunch
TEAM NAME Pistachio ACL

OK, that last one is a joke. My team at work is having fun with this, so smart a$$ responses are welcome.

Finally, I don't know if there is any type of renumeration involved with this but if you supply the name of the ice cream that gets used, I'll do my best to make sure you get a tub.

i sure would do better knowing the team name, so as to tie everything together. However, i can understand the need to keep it under wraps for now. Hmmm... ok, how about these (I assume you're putting the team name in front of all of these):

-Paydirt Peppermint?

-Endzone fudge ripple?

-Quick Six Peppermint Sticks?

-Field Goal Fudge?

-100 yard Heath bar?

-Run it up the middle Mint?

-Arial Assault Moosetracks?

-Creme de Menthe Big End Around? (probably don't want "big end" in the name of a ice cream though...

RTT - Good call on tying in with the team, we're working on that angle.

I'm leery of linking the flavor to a player for a couple of reasons. First, if he tears his ACL on us he'll have plenty of time for promotional appearances, but not a lot of time winning games. Which is what will sell product. Second, if the player tanks after getting on the ice cream packaging I worry about the whole 'SI jinx' syndrome. Sports fans are notoriously superstitious and we don't want even the possibility of that juju being turned back on our client.

Of course the other side would be the sports radio station listeners in the market actually talking about the product. I still think this would be bad PR...

RTT - How do you mean a lawsuit? The ice cream maker would be an official sponsor of the team and hence the league, able to use logos etc. Or am I misunderstanding you?

iconomy - We're seeing lots of duplicates with what we've come up with and what has been posted here. The major differences are we have the team to work with.

Maybe the icecream could be a swirl of the team colors. That would be pretty easy to do with sorbet/sherbet -- just add food coloring. Flavors could maybe match the colors -- lemon-lime for Green Bay, chocolate cherry for Tampa Bay -- if they make sense; don't know what flavor would match silver or black.

How do you get a three point conversion in football? You can get a two-point conversion, but unless they changed some rules over the summer, there is no such thing as a three-point conversion. Although I do like your concept.

W/O a team name or a well-known fact for naming purposes, makes this harder on this end yet made my name easiest to match a flavor in the colors. Now looking at my suggestion, it is suited better for the whole league in each of its team's city. Anyone want to start an ice-cream business?
