Can music be mashed up automatically?

I like the idea of Genius play lists, but I'm wondering when I will be able to click a button that says "Make awesome mash-ups of my iTunes library".
Is anyone working on this concept? What would it take? Pandora keeps "literally hundreds of musical details on every track", so why not more than that, like: tempo, key, defining instrument, time the sweet drum break starts and ends, where the great raps are, etc.? You could make choices like "music and vocals must be in same key or relative minor" or "favor the following list of instruments: ___, ___, ___".
