Do you know the name and artist for the song that begins playing 5 minutes and 20 seconds into this This American Life episode (realmedia)? It was also used repeatedly in the Barbet Schroeder movie about Charles Bukowski, Barfly. posted by stavrosthewonderchicken to media & arts (10 comments total)

Damn, that's embarrassing. I thought that song was an entirely other one. Thanks. posted by stavrosthewonderchicken at 10:11 PM on May 3, 2005
Sorry, I think it is actually Hip-HugHer, by the same artist. posted by mokujin at 10:16 PM on May 3, 2005
Another part of it can be heard here. Green Onions starts at 4:50, but the song at 5:20, is, I believe, Hip Hug-her. posted by mokujin at 10:18 PM on May 3, 2005
I would love it if there were some kind of record of what songs are played during TAL episodes. I've consulted their website, and this is apparently a very popular, often-asked question. Unfortunately, the official answer is that it would take too much time. They don't answer individual questions about music scores, either.
Is there a place online that has this information? posted by odinsdream at 5:49 PM on May 4, 2005
They do have a big list of all the music used on the show on the site, though. posted by abcde at 6:01 PM on May 4, 2005
Their list of common tracks they enjoy using (as mentioned by acbde) is here. posted by heresiarch at 7:02 PM on May 4, 2005
