Simple online solution for managing attendees of weekly soccer game.

I am organizing a weekly indoor soccer game via email and sms. This is proving to be a challenge. Can anyone point me towards a simple online solution which would allow people to confirm their attendance?

I am looking for a flexible and simple solution where people can set their status re the upcoming game. Examples of status would be confirmed, maybe, wont know until tomorrow, unable to attend etc.

Ideally this solution would have a simple memorable url e.g. www.organizeyourgame.com/therubettes.

I would prefer if people did not have to register or use their email to gain access, so that one person could confirm the attendance of both themselves and others.

Also it need not have some magic SMS interface, it would be enough for me to be able to set peoples status when I get an sms from them.

I would like people to be able to see at a glance, if there were spots available (its first come first served).

Not everyone is on facebook, or twitter, and google docs does not provide a memorable url.

Anyway I think you get the picture. Suggestions welcomed.

Doodle would seem to fit most of your criteria. I don't know if you can set the url for polls, though.

Might be more than you're looking for, but I was on a team that used TeamSnap and it worked pretty well. As I recall, however, you did have to have a login.

Google Sites supports site mapping, i.e. therubettes.mydomain.com could be your url with an embedded doc on the home page or even some fancy google apps script--depending on your general level of geekiness.

Definitely TeamSnap, although it does require you to register.

One of the things I liked about TeamSnap was that you could add people who weren't actually playing. So yeah, you could list all of the women/men and forwards/defense to make sure you were all balanced out, but you could also list the regular fans who never, ever played just so you would know that so-and-so would be there and could give you a ride or whatever.

If you just wanted something simple, you could always set up a plain old WordPress/Blogger blog and make a post saying "Tomorrow's game: who's in?" and have people respond in the comments. WordPress also has poll functionality through various plugins; you can use them for rating as well (as in "What's the best time for us to have our team potluck?" "Well, I could do Saturday but Sunday is better...")

Usually the URL is pretty simple, i.e. therubettes.blogspot.com (which looks to be available!).

Best answer: You could do a google docs and run it through tinyurl with their custom alias.

Wufoo is another good site for this sort of thing.

Response by poster: Thanks for all the responses. This sounds like the best idea. Simple url to remember and a public google doc which anyone can edit......nice one.
