How can I watch MLB games in the UK?

I miss having baseball on in the background at home, especially on weekends so I'd love to find a way to be able to watch here in England. Happy to watch either on TV or on my computer. Obviously free solutions would be best and I'm willing to consider proxy solutions but I'd like to avoid anything of questionable legality (obviously.)

MLB.TV works for me in The Netherlands. Off course it's not free ($100 for the season), but no blackouts, and (for me) the quality of the basic package is more than good enough.

IF the $100 is too pricey for you and the having-it-on-in-the-background is the bit that's important, GameDay Audio is the radio-only version.

ESPN America broadcasts a live game each UK night and reruns it (or another) during the day. You can get it as part of a Sky Package. Not sure about the cable platforms.

MLB.tv usually runs a trial at the start of the season, so it might be worth signing up for it to make sure:

1. It works in your region.
2. The quality is acceptable for your bandwidth.

If the answer to both is yes, and it's worth $100 to you, that's probably the way to go.

Nothing exists that is both free and legal. Many things exist that are one or the other.

For MLB, free and legal will be pretty mutually exclusive.

If you just want "baseball" in any form, the minor league version of MLB.tv is cheaper. It uses Windows Media Player and the quality is nowhere near MLB.tv.

You can often find colleges streaming their non-revenue sports, like baseball. Yahoo has a listing here. College baseball is more watchable this year - the BBCOR bats have mostly gotten rid of the horrific "ping" sound and have sped the game up a lot.

I am not sure about the legality of sites like ATDHE, but they offer live streams of most games on your computer.

My experience with MLB.com was the single worst experience I've ever had paying for any service ever, online or in the tangible world. The deluxe package which was supposed to include On Demand so you could pause games and resume never ever worked. Promised, never delivered, never fixed. Seriously, go back to the forums (although it wouldn't surprise me if they scrubbed negative comments) and you will see irate customer after irate customer getting nothing but a cut and pasted response on how to "fix" their shitty, shitty interface. Which basically involved rebooting your computer. It never worked. It was the worst money I've ever spent and only further increased the white hot loathing I have for professional baseball. Why can't MLB get a decent website??? IT SUCKS!!!
