I have a Minolta SRT-101 camera that I purchased in 1972. It is in beautiful shape. I would like to sell it. Where and for how much?

Look on eBay for what that model in similar condition has sold for in the past. For selling, either eBay or your local enthusiast camera store.

It would help if you said what city/country you are in.

Yeah, local camera store...Flea market maybe, but craigslist would be a good bet as well.

As for how much? I've seen them at my local flea market in working, but not super 'nice' shape for $40 bucks.

Unless you're hard up for the cash it might not even be worth the effort. I think you're looking at $100 max, if its in like new condition. You'd be better off just shooting with it - they still make film you know! :)

I sold some 10 year old camera equipment through KEH. I didn't get top dollar, but I got more than I thought I would. You describe the condition up front and they give you a price. They actually paid me more than they originally said, because they judged it to be of higher quality than I claimed.

I have been buying 35mm cameras from craigslist because people see them as useless in this digital age. I bought a Minolta srt 102 and a bunch of extras for $30. If it has a good lens I would set a price at $50. This model used a mercury battery that is no longer available. It will work with a zinc air hearing aid battery 1.4 volt. It is the wrong diameter, but it works. It is a beautiful piece of technology.

I got one in beautiful condition for five bucks.

If you don't want to shoot with it, try to find someone you know who is into photography who you could make really happy with an old SLR.

I picked up a black SRT-100 in great condition a couple years ago on eBay for about $50.

I also have one of these. My first SLR. Bought in 1972. A friend of mine who is a professional photographer wanted the lens for his Canon for video work. He traded me a vintage Nikon 105mm 2.5 lens for it. Worth used between 100 and 200 dollars. And I just checked on ebay and see ST-101s going from 20 dollars up to over a 100 dollars.

Depends on demand and location and how or who you try to sell it to when it comes to used film cameras. In bigger cities where it's real hip to be doing lomo type photography and you got intro level film/photography/art students picking up classic SLRs, demand is probably higher than supply and will go more between 100-200 range. If we're talking a small town where someone's cleaning out their garage or their dad's garage and just dumping things online or via garage sale, I've heard of people picking up fantastic SLR cams in great working condition for as little as $10, or less if it was part of some weird bundle of film and odds and end.

Anecdote, when searching for a used SLR cam from the 70s I ended up spending about 110 bucks via craigslist in New York to buy the same Minolta you're selling from a nice French lady filmmaker. It came with original manual, a nice camera bag and another lens. The online search between eBay and Craigslist, was a crap shoot too, as far as range of pricing and accessories that came with it, but 100 seemed to be the average price point. Cheaper ones quickly got into bidding wars that jumped it up to 100+ anyway, or seemed fishy or just too much trouble when including shipping, especially if it was from a foreign locale. I ended up going with CL because I wanted to at least meet the seller in person. My brother used CL too and bought a used Nikon SLR with a huge accessories package that included variety of lenses and filters all for about $60 in Chicago from a retired cop who was even nice enough to spend about an hour going through the cameras mechanics and such with him when he came to pick it up.
