Identify the alien rubik's cube movie

Identify the 80's movie (could be a TV episode): "Toys" found on the moon by astronauts are brought back to earth and turn out to open alien portals which are discovered to be the true source of unsolved "kidnappings".

the movie (or show) was seen in the USA, possibly nickelodeon. if anyone has questions to help narrow it down I can ask the one who has seen it. thanks!!!

If it was Nickelodeon, is it possible that it was an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark?
