Identify a piece of clothing?

Can anyone identify an old piece of clothing for me? (pics inside)

I found this garment in amongst some other old clothes, and wondered where it's from and who would wear it. Persian was my best guess, but googling around hasn't produced much. Someone said to me that it might be a challabi (jallabeh, jalabi, chalabeh, jal...yeah) but as you can see I didn't ask how to spell it at the time. The embroidery looks hand stitched and features a temple, peacocks, dogs, rabbits and tigers.

Looks like a kameez to me. (More info here.)

It is a salwar kameez. Pretty common, in India. Atleast, in Bombay, my hometown.
