Blackberry Bold Internet Browser problems

Why does my Blackberry Bold internet browser insist on remaining set on the essentially useless "MEdia net" browser rather than the one I want, "Internet Browser"?

My Blackberry internet browser's default browser selection seems to be "MEdia net", but all that does is let me watch videos. When I attempt to change this setting (by going to options < browser configuration < browser < internet browser), it appears as if it changes, but immediately returns back to the MEdia net browser when I exit options (which I do by clicking "save options"). What do I do to fix this?

Best answer: Have you set your home page address (also under browser configuration) to something other than MEdia net?

(Also, as a Blackberry Bold user I've been much happier using Opera Mini as my main browser rather than the native one that shipped with the device.)

Response by poster: I have repeatedly set the home page address to various (non-MEdia net) websites. I should mention, though, that every time I return to the options, they're all set back to MEdia net. Puzzling.

How can I change to Opera Mini - and would it help with this problem?

Is this a corporate Blackberry or a personal one? If the former, your Blackberry admin may have some policies in effect which automatically change certain device settings. Just a thought.

All the AT&T branded (non-iPhone) phones that I've had did this. The only way I found around it was to use Opera instead of the built-in browser. (I use the mobile version, but mini is good too)
