Working untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak for iPhone 4?

Does an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4 running iOS 4.2.1 currently exist, and if so, does it work? There seems to be more than the usual amount of confusion about this on the sites that generally announce and host such software.

From my understanding, there's one in beta right now.

There's some convulted way to do it using an image of the 4.2b3 firmware, but you would have to have been in the developer program when 4.2 was being tested (before release) to have downloaded this, so you're probably out of luck.

From my understanding, the usual suspects are working on it, but they're going to hold off releasing it until 4.3 is out.
