What building is that?

While driving southwest from Chattanooga to Birmingham along I-59, you see a structure standing alone on Lookout Mountain out of the driver's side window. It looks like a church or a monastery. I can't find it on Google earth. Does anyone know what it is?

Best answer: I'm not familiar with the area, but looking at Google Earth, Covenant College seems to be a likely candidate.. here's an aerial photo.

Best answer: It's been over 15 years since I lived in Chattanooga but I'm pretty sure it is indeed Covenant College.

Response by poster: Awe boo. I was hoping it would be cooler than that. Oh well. Thanks!

You have to stay on I-24 to get the churches and monasteries.

It does have an interesting history; it was built in the 20s as the Lookout Mountain Hotel (aka Castle in the Clouds). I have a room keychain from the old hotel.

Disclaimer: I attended Covenant (and watched The Shining for the first time in one of those old hotel corriders... yikes).
