Old song about a nagging wife who gets it in the end? Yes, my love.

Hiya folks. I'm looking for the name and singer of an old song that the missus and I heard many moons ago on the oldies station. In the song, a nagging, overbearing wife issues order after order to her hapless husband, who simply replies "yes, my love."

As the song proceeds the orders get worse, but at the very end the husband gets back at her in a rather violent way, when she asks if she plans on doing something drastic, the final reply is, of course, "Yes, my love."

If you could help us figure out the name of the song and where to hear it again, that would be aces and a half.

Are you sure it's not "Yeah! Oh Yeah!" by the Magnetic Fields from their "69 Love Songs" triple album? Or perhaps that song is doing a take-off of that song, as the album is full of pastiche songs.

A good search term to help is "Murder Ballad".

Best answer: Yeah, this is just screaming Clancy Brothers. :)

Response by poster: Most definitely not the Magnetic Fields, nor can I find anything from Clancy Brothers which fits the bill. Think 50's or 60's jazz tune. It's sort of a call-and-response where it goes from the lady making some sort of statement to the harried husband's repeated response, "Yes, my love."

Best answer: Oh for pete's sake. It wasn't Clancy Brothers, but searching "Clancy Brothers" "yes my love" pinged a mention on a tracklist. Lo and behold, Thelma Baxter's "Henry (Yes, my love)."
