Can I use a Canadian iPad in the US?

I'm already experiencing issues with accessing the iTunes store from the iPad itself and learned today via Apple CSR that the 3G will have issues if I decide to get data service.

Are the roadblocks worth the trouble here? It was a gift and is a 32GB 3G model.

Was it setup with a Canadian iTunes account or something? My googling suggests that tons of people do the reverse -- buy a US iPad and take it to Canada and stick a Rogers microSIM in it, with no ill effects. So I am not sure why it would be a problem the other way. It appears to be the same hardware, in fact...

CA iPad (apple.com/ca/ipad/specs/)
UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)
GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

US iPad (apple.com/ipad/specs/)
UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)
GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

My iPad isn't 3G but I am able to access wifi without a problem in both countries and can access both my US and Canadian iTunes accounts in both countries too. I really can't see why you would have any trouble getting 3G data service as long as you are accessing it from the country of the provider.

Fwiw, I have a 3g 64gb Canadian iPad that worked fine in Australia with an Aussie sim card, and works fine with a bell sim.

I have accounts and apps from both the cdn iTunes and aus iTunes stores. Just need to make sure the correct account is logged in when doing updates or adding apps.
