Search xkcd by date?

Is there a way to search xkcd by date? The one I'm looking for today is 1 Aug. 2009, but this is not the first time I've wanted to search by date.

Best answer: Google Spreadsheet index of the first 793 XKCD comics

Best answer: I found it quickly by just Google'ing "xkcd 08/01/09". Any given strip will be blogged about somewhere. I know that isn't what you're looking for, but it all else fails...

Response by poster: Thank you very kindly. 617 is the one I was looking for.

I wonder why that didn't show on the first page when I Googled ? Just last week I saw somebody whinging about how Google was privileging its own products in search results.

OK, I fail at Google-fu. I searched "xkcd 8/1/2009", got nothing useful, and came here. I'll try more date formats next time. :)

Response by poster: Edit to my comment at 9:42. I used angle brackets on my search string and it disappeared.

I wonder why that didn't show on the first page when I Googled "xkcd index by date"?
