Obscure Dutch Painter Filter

This is going to be really difficult, I think, but it's worth a shot. A long time ago I saw (on dutch tv) a documentary about a young dutch painter/artist of the seventies. He was in his twenties back then, I believe, and he died (of cancer?) soon after (that is, probably also in the seventies). Can anyone tell me what his name is? Somehow whenever I think back of this documentary a rose pops into my mind, but I don't know why. Perhaps it was a painting of his.

I'll guess you're thinking of Erik Andriesse and one of his many Red Amaryllis paintings. IIRC, he died of a brain hemorrhage, but since all the bios I googled up are in Dutch, I can't confirm or deny that.
