Word Process Sores

Name me an online word processor that gets on well with my aged laptops.

Google Docs and Microsoft Live are good when I'm not at home but my own machines are a little weak for them.

Are there any online word processors of the same ilk that are a little leaner on resources?

Dropbox is not an option. FTP, neither.

Free is preferred.

What are your formatting/feature requirements? There is a spectrum from "plain text only" to Google Docs and beyond, and there is probably a roughly linear relationship between resource demand and features. Knowing which features are necessary or optional could help people find that sweet spot.

Best answer: Is the laptop the issue, or the browser? Have you tried the latest releases of IE, Firefox or Chrome?

If you just need typing and not much else, maybe use pastebin and set the posts to private. There's also Zoho Docs

Response by poster: ShooBoo, Chrome gets on much better with Google Docs that Firefox. Looks like problem solved.
