I was playing Bioshock recently, you see, and the plaster man imagery struck a chord.

Please help me identify a movie I saw quite some time ago: The scene I remember was a man running from a crowd of angry people at night in a bad part of town. I have no idea why he was pursued. He comes across a woman artist who conceals him in plaster/paper mache like a statute. For some reason the ruse doesn't work for very long.

This is a movie from probably the 1970's or early '80s. The movie was in English and was set in an industrial part of a large city, possible New York. I believe the movie must have been on during one of those free HBO/Cinemax/ShowTime trials as it had incidental nudity. It was definitely an "artistic" kind of film, and many of the shots were intentionally overly long and disturbing. It was not a particularly violent film as I recall, although the chased man may have died at the end of it.
