Need to know what this pain is that isn't a UTI or STD?

Asking for a friend. YNMD but the tests are back and it's not a UTI or an STD? What could it be?
My roomate says that it absolutely kills when he pees. They put him on UTI medicine and it didn't help. Tests came back and it's not a UTI or an STD but the Urologist won't see him until next week. His primary said it could be that his GF is a yeast carrier and it's some sort of yeast infection but that's just a guess. He's in some pain and is sort of freaking out. Anyone experience this and it ended up being something other than a UTI or STD? No other symptoms, just pain when peeing.

Sounds like nonspecific urethritis. That can be caused by yeast, and also by bacteria that can enter the urethra in different ways, not all of them sexual.
Has your friend been swimming lately in nonchlorinated water?

Response by poster: Oh I didn't even think of it being a stone. That could be it although the pain doesn't look like it's specific to peeing.

What sort of lube, if any, does he use for sex/masturbation?

On the stones front, I had some non-specific urethritis when I was developing kidney stones last year, but it was part of a cavalcade of delightful symptoms: I also had what felt like bladder and back pain of varying levels (from "dull ache" to "I would happily die instead of live through one more second of this") , occasional blood in my urine, and various levels of difficulty urinating.
