Please Help Me Find (Yet Another) Text-Based Adventure

My wife is determined to find a certain text-based adventure she played aeons ago. As usual, details are scanty.

She is pretty sure that it takes place in a village, and many of the puzzles are based around a play on words. For example, at one point she ended up in a supermarket, or a store, and she is attacked by a vampire bat and the solution was to grab a steak...which then turned into a stake. Geddit?

And that's all we have. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Seconding RogerB. Great game if you're into wordplay.

She might also enjoy Ad Verbum and Guess the Verb! (full disclosure: I contributed slightly to Guess the Verb!)

You should also check out Another Lifeless Planet And Me With No Beer. It's not the world's best game (the parser sucks!) but it's chock-full of silly puns and the like (the puzzle with the palm tree near the end is hysterical).

A lot of these old games are available for download from various sites on the web. I don't know if they are legal or not so I won't link, but I found Nord and Bert very easily with a google search for 'classic pc games nord'
