lost, cab, laptop, life, reward

I left a laptop in the back of a cab, with a daytimer, and two library books.
I called the cab company immediately. I just called back, no notice. I offered a reward, and am going back to the place I got the cab, which has a stand. Is it lost for good, or any thing else I could do?

Some cities have systems to handle this. (for example New York City lost property in a taxicab) What city was the cab in? Or, you can just search "lost cab cityname" and see if you come up with a good lead.

Were you picked up or let off at a hotel? There is a chance that the workers there might be familiar with local cab drivers, especially those who shuttle passengers to the airport. You might want to ask a doorman, front office clerk, or concierge if they have any info. This happened to me once, and the guy who worked the office gave me a couple of names to run past the cab company when I called. Turns out, one of the names he gave me was indeed the name of my driver. They dispatched him directly, and I ended up getting my day planner (+$600 in cash) back after a few hours of waiting.
