Recording outgoing phone calls in Linux?

Can I record outgoing phone calls with an external modem in Linux?

I'm aware of the legal ramifications of such a thing, just not the technical ones. I've tried Call Corder for Windows (which didn't seem to do the trick under Windows let alone under Wine) but beyond that I've found little in the way of modem/phone recording that wasn't meant for incoming calls.

My modem's a USR Sportster Faxmodem with X2, and I'm not entirely sure it would be considered a voice modem.

So is it possible to record outgoing calls with an external modem in Linux? If so, how?

Last time I considered this I was going to install vgetty. Then I realized I was too lazy. Perhaps you can try it and let us know? :-)
