Hispanic Parade Ankle Bells !?!?

Seeking large ankle bells like the ones I saw at the NYC Hispanic Day Parade

At the 2010 Hispanic Day Parade - Sunday before Columbus Day, ironically enough - many of the dancers wore spectacular Vegas-style costumes. Many of their outfits included wonderful huge ankle bells - some mounted on leather greaves and others on straps over boots. My girlfriend, a dancer, fell in love with the whole thing, the bells in particular, and I'm trying to get her a set for Christmas. Searching for "ankle bells" on Google I find only smaller sets (ghungaroos) from South India which, while nice, aren't as big or impressive as the ones I'm looking for. Any Bolivian parade-organizers out there?

I don't have any Bolivian parade knowledge, but sometimes I like to search for puzzling items. The dance could be called Caporales. The bells are "cascabeles."

First the closest thing I could find were 2" sleigh bells but then I found these Caporal bells.

You might try searching for percussion bells as well.

A source for caporales boots with bells, or just bells alone. The boots are shown without bells, but the detailed description of the boots indicates they come with bells.

If you want to pick her up a rockin' CD to go with her jangly boots, search for "saya caporal".
