Looking for High Quality Monogrammed Towels

I need help finding a superior-quality, monogrammed bath towel set for a gift.

I tried Hudson Park Premier Stitch from Bloomingdale's and was disappointed. They're soft and lovely, but they feel flimsy in the hand and aren't especially abosrbent.

I also wasn't wild about their choice of monogram styles, plus monograms have to be ordered in person when I would prefer internet ordering.

This is for a gift. Price is less important than quality.

Any suggestions for great monogrammed towels that can be ordered on line?

I'm a huge monogram nut....I'm a huge fan of JC Penney for towel and sheet sets. Lot's to choose from, lot's of choice..and reasonable prices. I've purchased many times..both as gifts and for myself and I've always been pleased. I haven't perused lately but give them a look. Good luck!!

I've consistently read good things about Land's End towels and will probably get some myself.

Response by poster: Thanks pearlybob and jgirl.

jgirl, a review of their premium towel set describes the opposite of what I'm looking for: "I hate heavy, thick towels that bog down my washing machine and take forever to dry. These are the perfect weight bath towel and I will be buying 6 more to go with the 2 I bought previously"

I want heavy, thick, take-a-long-time-to-dry towels.

I had some Ralph Lauren Towels that were like you described (looks like Ralphlauren.com is having a white sale & some of their items may be monogrammed). I hated them for the reason you want them - in humid Atlanta, these thick, heavy towels took FOREVER AND A DAY to dry. Maybe you can go feel them at a local store then buy them online? Sounds like they may be what you're looking for.

I don't know much about monogramming, but it appears to be a free option for Garnet Hill's signature towels. I bought two on clearance once and they were totally worth the money- heavy, absorbent, and keep me warm after getting out of the shower.

I have fondled the Ralph Lauren Palmer towels and they are very very nice.

You absolutely want the Restoration Hardware ultimate turkish towels. They are super thick, heavy, and will not seem the least bit damp if you completely wipe yourself down after dripping wet from a bath. They are THAT thick and plush and absorbent. They're also expensive enough that most people wouldn't buy them for themselves but not too expensive to serve as a very nice gift.

I'd especially recommend the bath sheet. They are HUGE.

Seconding the Restoration Hardware Turkish towels--they sound like exactly what you're looking for. Their site claims you can get them monogrammed, but I didn't see the option on the page; it could be it doesn't work in my (Mac) browser.

The monogrammed option is available on this page:

(works on my Chrome-ified Mac)

You could also try L L Bean.

About 3 years ago I got 3 monogrammed towel sets from JC Penney on sale -- 2 washcloths, 2 monogrammed hand towels, and two monogrammed bath sheets -- they were $25 per set. I was quite satisfied with them. And now each of my kids knows which towels are theirs.
