Boom boom in the zoom zoom room.

I love it when, in a film, there's a quick optical zoom on a frozen frame -- The 400 Blows, The Rules of Attraction, Beck's Devil's Haircut video. Have more, preferably with Youtube links?
(That being said, my love of the effect doesn't in any way extend to Ken Burns-style video effects, and those referencing slow video zooms on photographs will get a Metafilter raspberry. Or worse.)

Best answer: Three Days of the Condor's ending uses the device to brilliant effect.

Does it always have to be on a freeze frame? If not, here's several crash zooms in just 60 seconds. Otherwise, just enjoy the music.

No link but Tarantino did this to hilarious effect in Kill Bill in the martial arts training sequence.

It's not in the middle of the action like your examples, but I kind of love the title sequence for The Tomorrow People and for Fahrenheit 451.

I feel like the climax of every Twilight Zone episode for a few seasons used that technique as the "And here's the twist ending!"

More Redford for you. The last shot in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid uses a slightly less dramatic version.
