Comedy episodes of otherwise non-comedic TV shows?

What TV shows, that aren't comedies, have had intentionally comedic episodes?

As an example, although The X-Files has it's funny moments, it's not a comedy. But the episode "Bad Blood" absolutely is - it's hilarious. (And also my personal favourite episode.)

What other TV shows had comedy episodes, and which are they?

Breaking Bad is always partly a black comedy, but the Season 3 episode Fly is outright slapstick. (Though it gets heavier toward the end.)

A lot of the crime drama shows will have filler episodes that focus on the supporting cast and leave the main characters mostly out of the picture. These tend to be spoofy or intentionally comedic episodes. Off the top of my head, CSI's Field Mice from season 10 and You Kill Me from season 8.

Darn, I was gonna say The X-Files, which was a perfect example.

Maybe another Star Trek series, Next Generation. Although I guess the original Trek Tribbles episode could count.

But as for TNG, there was A Fistful of Datas, Q-Pid, and Deja Q.

Stargate SG1 had an celebration episode (for a certain round number of episodes, I think) where they basically made fun of the entire Sci Fi genre. link

Xena: Warrior Princess often had funny moments in various episodes - I mean, how could it not? - but the ep A Day in the Life is on-purpose funny from start to finish.

The Closer does at least one comedy episode per season, usually featuring Lts. Flynn and Provenza.

I think Supernatural has a lot of funny moments in serious episodes, but also has some episodes that are just much more comedic than others... It looks like this forum discusses which ones are funniest - I'm not a devoted enough fan to know names of episodes but it's generally a good show, and I like the funny episodes (or the funny parts) best myself.

Battlestar Galactica did what I would consider to be a comedy episode with Season 1 Episode 9 "Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down".

There was a CSI (the Las Vegas series) that had an episode which is exactly what you are talking about. I don't remember the season or episode number, but it was fairly recent (last 2 years).

Isn't Buffy's Once More with Feeling the ultimate comedic series interlude?

I thought of this exact x-files episode.

Also the one where Scully is relating a scene in flashback, except she doesn't like to swear, so everytime the guy in the flashback would normally swear, he says "blankety-blank blank!"

Also the one where Mulder switches consciousness with a "Man in Black," who has a shrewish wife and bratty kids and decides that he much prefers the life of a single FBI agent.

The X-Files never had a satisfying resolution, but when it was at its peak, I would put it among the best-written series ever.

A number of British dramas and soaps have done comedy episodes or interludes for Comic Relief, a charity whose funding comes from mostly BBC-led activities. An example from Britain's most popular "serious" soap, Eastenders.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer had a lot, so did Roswell. Bones has a lot of funny bits, as does Castle. You might like dramedies in general.

A lot of anime serious will have an omake episode at the end of a season which is usually a non-canon or alternate timeline comedic episode. An American example, "Avatar: The Last Airbender" had a couple shorts like this.
