How can I access "pro guitar" mode in Rock Band 3 without an official "pro guitar"?

I bought rock band 3 yesterday for PlayStation 3. I heard that it had this new pro mode that showed true guitar chords/notes so that you can play along with the music. How can I see these tabs? I just want to play along with my real guitar with the failure mode disabled.

I don't care that it does not register my notes in game. I am more interested in seeing how this compares to learning a song through internet tabs.

Presuming that you have a regular guitar controller, did you try choosing Pro Guitar when starting a song? I only played with the keyboard so far, but it gave me a choice of "Keys" or "Pro Keys."

The Pro modes still have a difficulty level, which I think you'd want to set to Expert to see all of the notes.

One thing though...I don't know that you'd be able to hear the guitar track if you're not playing any of the notes. Just in case you wanted to listen while you play along.

Best answer: You can't do this - you need a "real guitar controller" (the MadCatz Mustang or Fender Squier) to enter the mode (just like you need a drum controller to see the drum track). If you want to check out what it looks like, you'll have to look at online videos or something. Sorry.

What dfan said. The Mustang has 10,000 billion buttons to replicate proper hand placement. The Squier, the real guitar, was pushed back for (presumably) a 2011 release, and has a unique midi adapter and fingerboard.
