Stopping IE8 from providing commands in the history list

Internet Explorer 8. It's got the ability to delete individual items in address bar history by clicking little icons in the history list. I want it to stop.

Here is a screenshot showing the behavior I want to stop.

I have to use Microsoft CRM for work. I have to use IE to use CRM. I don't want to revert to IE7.
The bottom line is that I want to eliminate those little commands on the far right of the address history dropdown.

Anyone have any suggestions re: how to do that?

A quick google search seems to suggest that it is not possible to remove them. A workaround is to install a third-party address bar as they mention in that thread. I can't vouch for it at all though (I use Opera).
