[AppleFilter] How do I log on to my G5 tower when I don't actually know my username?

So something I did has prompted my Mac to ask me for a login at start-up when previously I've never needed one. (I suspect it's a result of trying to access a wireless network, but not really sure.) Is there a way to actually get past the login screen if I don't know the username? (& seriously, how do I not know my own username???? Embarrassing.)

Boot as single-user.

The default username on OS X is your full name, without spaces, all lower case.

Boot from any OSX install disk. Once booted, in the menus up top you will see 'change password". You will see all logins, and be able to change password as well for all accounts.

Welll...the default username is whatever you entered during the initial start-up routine. Typically, people will use their full name. Sometimes, though, they don't.

Response by poster: mkb - I found that link a couple nights ago but didn't have any success getting it to actually boot.

caek/Thorzdad - I don't think I used my full name, as I tried that. I probably used something else in an effort to be clever. Ugh.

StUdIoGeEk - I'm going to try that tonight!! I really really hope that works. I feel pretty dumb.

Booting from an OSX install disk requires that you hold down the "C" key at start up. Hold it down until you see the blue installation screen.

OK, the default username is whatever was typed in the "Full Name" box when the installer asked them for their full name, lowercased and despaced.
