In WinXP SP2, I can no longer drag and drop files from one folder to another, or from Explorer onto applications. Nothing happens, either right- or left-clicking. To move files around I have to cut and paste. Any idea how to get my drag and drop back?

I don't have a specific solution to your problem, but as serendipity would have it, there is a thread at DSL Reports about that very thing. Try keeping an eye on it to see what comes up.

If you go to the DSL Reports thread, then go to the thread that's now linked at the bottom of *that* thread, there's a mention that windows hotfix 890047 caused the person's problem...

I uninstalled Hotfix 890047 and that solved the problem. Ask Metafilter is amazing.
