Staying in Troncones? How about Quinta d'Liz?

I'm spending a little time in June in Troncones, Mexico, and I'm looking for advice on where to stay. I really just need place to sleep at night and keep my luggage, nothing fancy; I'd like a private room, though, not a hostel or other group arrangement. Anyone been there and have some advice or suggestions?

I've looked at a place called Quinta d'Liz, and it looks like what I want. The catch is that the guy who runs the place wants me to send him half of the money via Western Union ahead of time; I have no problem with this except that I can't verify much about the guy. Anyone have specific experience with this place?

Where is Troncones? I'm asking because if it's anything but a small village, there will most likely be several cheap, clean, fairly quiet hotels near the center of town. Or near the beach if it's a resort.

Some guy wants you to wire him half the money in advance? Did he give a reason? Is there a convention that week? A big fiesta that fills the hotels? High tourist season? If any of those are the the case, and if there are few hotels besides his, I'd consider wiring the advance. Otherwise, not.
