What's the new *69?

I missed a call and don't have call display. *69 doesn't work. Can I find out who called?

I have a cell phone with Virgin mobile canada. I don't pay for call display. I'd like to know who called me this morning, but *69 doesn't seem to work. Is it possible to find out who called me? If so, how?

Why don't you log into your account online and see if the number appears on your detailed bill?

Response by poster: I think that would only work if I waited until my bill was posted -- and even then, I don't think it would show a missed call.

The principle of "why don't you try" is that it costs you nothing if it doesn't work, and provides the result you want if it does work.

There is no reason not to try.

Thanks for the advice, kavasa. I was actually hoping to find out today who called me today. Perhaps that wasn't sufficiently clear in the original question; *69 used to help one to get immediate info, and I was hoping to find a similar system. Anrhia's suggestion may or may not work when my next bill is posted. Unfortunately that isn't today.

I'm not sure how Virgin mobile's online accounts work, but for ATT wireless, your call logs and data usage show up online within a few hours to a day. For my cell phone, I would not have to wait until my bill is posted to see who I had called or who had called me. I think the others are suggesting that you check if Virgin mobile does the same. It may not be as "immediate" as *69, but you could possibly find out within a day or so, rather than waiting for your bill.

Response by poster: Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanation, turtles. Unfortunately Virgin (in Canada, at least) does not appear to work the way ATT does. The only call logs I get are in my bills, which are posted monthly, and those only show calls that I'm charged for -- so, not missed calls.

Why don't you call Virgin customer service and see if they can tell you?

Response by poster: I ended up calling Virgin, as per amro's suggestion. The customer service woman said that the new *69 is #31# ... except it didn't work on my phone! Such is life.

Those codes (for *69 and other features) can vary by carrier, always wise to check your carrier's site.
