How do I dip my toe into the pool of phone sex?

How can I effectively try out working as a phone sex operator?

I want to try working as a phone sex operator. Never mind the reasons why, it just appeals to me as something worth checking out. The question is, how can I check it out and see how it goes for me?

At least for now, I don't want to drop everything and sign up for a company that requires a certain minimum number of hours logged in per week. I also don't want to sign up for Niteflirt and get no calls because I'm not up for marketing myself on my own. I just want to give it a try in my spare time for now. I can't know if I even like it until I do. How can I give it a try with some sort of service that forwards callers to me, is trustworthy, but doesn't have a minimum weekly schedule requirement?

I worked briefly as a phone sex operator and the company didn't require a minimum number of logged-in hours. I didn't even know that there were companies with minimum schedules. So it shouldn't be too hard to find that.

(FWIW, in my experience it was not worth it.)

Sign up at NightFlirt.com -- I know somebody who uses the site as her primary income and makes a very comfortable living. About all I hear about NightFlirt is that they've been doing software upgrades and there's some 'bugginess', but at the very least you'll get a feel for the life of a PSO without feeling like you're selling your soul. If it doesn't work for you, just delete your account.

I should add: my friend doesn't spend any money on marketing at NiteFlirt; she just gets callers who find her through the system. Writing an attractive listing is what she hangs her hat on.

At least in the Seattle area, there are many "Singles phone chat" services. The advertisements on local stations after midnight are unrelenting. Anyway, I was talking to a friend of a friend that owns one, and she explained that they are basically phone sex lines that men pay to call by the minute. The company makes the money, not the women on the other end of the phone. Apparently, they are very profitable.

The men pay, but the women can use the service completely free for however long they like, as many times as they like. (Duh.) It may be a good way to get some experience. It may also be a good way to judge your...um...effectiveness in that line of work before actually committing to it.
