Looking for info on how to download (and somehow transfer to an iPhone) a French-Canadian cooking show. I swear it's to help me learn!

Being an American who fairly recently moved to Quebec (less than two years), I am taking the French classes, yes, but since my interest pretty much solely lies in food, food science, anything to do with food for the most part, my teachers have directed me to the French-Canadian equivalent of Top Chef called Les Chefs. In less than two weeks I have a long flight to the UK and think that it would be perfect to practice, learn and entertain myself if I could find episodes of this show to download and watch on my iPhone during said flight.

Any help out there? Any leads? My husband has tried to find it for me to download but with no such luck. The best we can do is where I can watch it online, but no downloading.

Thanks so much, y'all!

Is there no way you can bring a laptop? The easiest thing to do is to preload it on a browser then watch it offline on the plane.

A quick search also threw up La grande revolution de l'alimentation, a 4 part show about food by Radio Canada (one of the main Quebec channels), which looks like it might suit your interests.

Bienvenue au Québec!

Response by poster: Well, I usually haul my laptop around when I travel, true, but with my husband's iPad and my iPhone, there is no need to add the laptop to our baggage.

Mais je vous remercie pour vos suggestions!

What operating system? There are certain programmes that you can use to download stuff from the internet that is "hidden" behind a flash video.

Similar to Solomon, from what website could you stream it? Could you stream the video to your iPhone, assuming a WiFi connection on your flight? Are DVDs available? Probably not enough time to record shows off the air, even if you could. You probably can't do better and keep it legal.

If you can stream it, you should be able to capture it and convert it. If you tell us what operating system you have on your main computer, we can suggest software that will do the trick. BTW, does anyone know how those of us outside of Canada can view "Les Chefs!"?

[Husband here!]

Windows Vista, I believe. It doesn't seem to be out on DVD yet. Capture and covert would be new territory for me, but definitely something I'm capable of handling technically; I'm on an XP box, myself.

Try HiDownload. Run that (set it to sniff), and then open your browser. Play the video file and it should automatically start downloading the content.

This is what I use. It works with Firefox and I'd guess with any other browser.
