Buying Carded Wool in New York?

Sheep & Wool Filter: Help me find a place to buy (preferably clean) sheep fleece somewhere close to Monroe, NY or around Highway 95 (I'm heading north from NYC to Maine). I need it for stuffing.

Anyone?

Does it have to be local? Ebay has raw fleece available all the time, both in the grease and raw.

You can also get polyester and sometimes corn-based toy stuffing at craft stores like Michaels, etc.

Best answer: The vendor list for the Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool Festival looks like a good place to start. There are lots of farms and yarn shops listed, and I'm sure there will be some in the area you're traveling through.

I buy wool from http://frankenmuthwoolenmill.com/ in Michigan. They buy wool from sheep owners, process it in various ways, and sell it or use it. Looks like you can find more such places by searching for "fiber mill (state)". They sell roving and batting, both excellent for different kind of fill.
