What is this sad 80s song that I love?

A song. From the 80s. Almost no information. Go!

I heard this in Old Navy the other day, and I know I've heard it a thousand times before, but for the life of me I can't place it. The chorus is kind of hard to understand, as it's sung in a breathy fashion, but it's something like "hold my mind" and then maybe "hold my life" (not the Replacements song). Very synth heavy. I also know I've seen it in a movie, maybe even a John Hughes movie? While someone looks on longingly during a dance? That's the vague memory it seems to conjure up. However, I know it's not on the Pretty in Pink or Breakfast Club soundtracks. At first I thought it might be the Thompson Twins, but the voice is too deep. I can also tell you that it ends with a lot of repeated "ah" and "oh". This is driving me insane!

Are you sure it's not the Thompson Twins? Hold Me Now?

Best answer: Or maybe Love My Way by the Psychedelic Furs?

Response by poster: Definitely not Hold Me Now. This song is slower in tempo, and the vocals are deeper.

It's also in the game "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City", in case you ever played that.

Ahh, I knew it would be Love My Way! Great song. It was on the Wedding Singer soundtrack as well - perhaps that was one of the places you remember hearing it.

Response by poster: Ah ha! That was it sprocket, The Wedding Singer. How ridiculous that I confused it for an actual 80s movie...
