Question: Help me avoid being homeless in Baltimore

Calling Baltimore Mefites!!! I'm in a serious bind, I need a 1room place to live this week in Charles Village. All online resources are aimed at Hopkins kids and way over priced.

I just had a messy breakup, I need to rent a place in the Charles Village area, anywhere between 27th and University, for as little money as possible and no more than $400. I know when I first came to this city that was possible, I don't know if it still is. If anyone wants to contact me privately my email is in my profile. I hope this appropriate for askme. Thanks

You're probably familiar with it, but Baltimore Craigslist lists a number of rooms (I don't know the area) under $500.

Yes, I'm familiar. Everything so far has failed to pan out, I'm getting a little desperate. Thanks, though.

Oh, Jeezus, I feel your pain. Your best bet is to see if anyone's renting rooms in a house, but the sucky thing there is most of those are obtained through word-of-mouth. If you can find roommates, the City Paper has listings.

Um, the Johns Hopkins Gazette classifieds (go to archives for more) is another good place to look for apartments/roommate options, and it's not all retardedly expensive. It's updated weekly and you can find hard copies of it in most JHU buildings (try Levering or McCoy). The Daily Jolt also has some options.

This is probably not helpful, but there will be bunches of places open for sublet from mid-May through the summer if you could perhaps rent something more expensive temporarily and hold out until then.

Sorry all these links are student-centric. Take heart, not everybody can get Mommy and Daddy to pay for them so there are some cheaper housing options out there (or some homeless JHU undergrads).

St. Ambrose's Homesharing Program got me a room with a kindly old artist in Little Italy for $450/month for a year. They might be able to help you out for cheaper.

slapshot57: its funny 'cause its true. Canvased the area again, got a decent list of numbers to call in the morning, but don't know if that will pan out yet. So suggestions/offers/resources are still quite welcome.
